Job Description
General maintenance of the Cumbrian road/street infrastructure.
Requirements
- Full UK Driving licence
- Trained for sector scheme 12 B and 12 C desirable
- LGV Class C desirable
- Certificated Plant Operator desirable
- Winter maintenance drivers desirable
- CSCS cardholder
- Some experience in highway maintenance operations
- Good level of communication skills
- Ability to attend site based training to improve general skills and Health and Safety training
- Knowledge of traffic management and Chapter 8 for road works desired
- Work in inclement weather
- Working with small tools & plant
Responsibilities
- Installation of temporary traffic management on all road types with mobile lane closures
- Traffic management on single carriageway, using traffic lights
- Static traffic management
- Repairs to boundary fencing
- Installing traffic signs
- Ditch clearing and minor drainage works
- Participation in the Winter maintenance operations which involve gritting, ploughing and patrolling
- Emergency call outs
- Mixing and laying material such as cement and bituminous
- Operate light plant and power tools
- Some minor civil works e.g. patching, kerbing, flagging, block paving, surfacing, drainage, walling etc
- Barrier works
- Driving Gully vehicle on the public highway in a safe and courteous manner
- Emptying/clearing and cleansing gullies
- Ditch clearing and minor drainage works
- Working in a safe and efficient manager abiding by relevant safety regulations
- Completion of documentation associated with the position
- Assist in other duties which may reasonably be expected
