Resources to support your journey to a new career

My Dream Job

Have you got a D.R.E.A.M.?

When we started this course as part of the Introductions exercise, participants interviewed each other.

A key question was “What is your dream job?”.

Some Dream Job Answers

We have had answers like:

  • “Snow board instructor in Honolulu”
  • “Holistic Therapist”
  • “Running / working in a catering business”
  • “Working in travel / tourism”
  • “Child care / working with children”
  • “Retail / retail sales”
  • “Acting”
  • “Beauty therapy”
  • “I Don’t Know!”

So – what is your D.R.E.A.M.?

Take some time and make a some notes about each of the following:

D – What is your Dream job?

  • What do you see yourself doing?
  • Where are you working?
  • Who are you working with?
  • What kind of lifestyle will it provide?

R – What is the Reason for that choice?

Is it:

  • The Job itself or
  • The kind of Work or
  • The Customers or
  • The Tasks involved?

If you don’t have a DREAM job and want to think about your own business then:

  • Do you have an Idea for a business?
  • What are you good at?
  • What kinds of business and roles have you got experience of?
  • What Resources do you have? e.g. Car, premises, equipment, computer, phone, money, potential customers or investors?

Remember we talked about how “the happiest people in the world are those who get up every day and get to do something they really enjoy”

– and get a real Buzz from

– and get paid for!

  • What Achievements do you have? – Have you gained any qualifications? Got things you are proud of? Worked hard to gain?
  • What Aspirations do you have for the future? – for yourself and for your family?
